Paso Robles City Guide

With over 20,000 visitors yearly its no wonder Paso Robles wine and food scene is becoming so popular. Me and the hubs love to visit often throughout the year. We live less than 2 hours away and try to stop at a new winery when we pass through on our way to the beach! Even stopping at a new one every time we haven’t made a dent in the over 100 tasting rooms and more than 200 wineries. Growing more than 40 varieties of wine we can always find the most delicious wine to take home too! Below I’ll share our favorite places to stop and eat, our favorite wineries and why, and the hotel you must stay at while visiting!!

First Up… FOOD!

Thomas Hill Oraganics:

One of the most deliciously prepared meals with unexpected ingredients you may never think to order. Loved every single thing we got here and the ambiance and service was impeccable! A total must eat for sure! When you visit here, please order the whipped lemon yogurt for me! I crave it basically every day, no exaggeration!

Vivant Fine Cheese:

We found this place a few years ago after getting a wine and cheese pairing at Daou. They told us the store in town where we could get one of the cheeses we loved and we have been coming back ever since! Everything we have gotten from here has been so amazing! I highly recommend getting a picnic box and taking it to one of your wineries. A lot of the wineries that don’t have food served allow you to bring in outside food to enjoy with their wine. On this trip we decided to do a box and head to Eberle Winery. A perfect spot, I’ll explain more below!

Other places we love to eat are:

Fish Gaucho (Modern mexican)

Catch Seafood Bar & Grill (American, Seafood)

Pappy McGregor’s (Irish pub)

Wineries & Wine Tasting

Tablas Creek Vineyard:

Known for bringing Rhone wine to California this winery is a perfect place to come for all! Fans of both red & whites will both be happy here! They have tastings options with all white, all red or a mix. Walk in standing tastings go on all day or you can book a seated tasting and learn even more about their wine and how it all came about! Highly educational and enjoyable! I really recommend the seated tasting to educated yourselves.

Parrish Family Vineyard -

An absolutely stunning location!! Me and Scotty seriously wanted to just move in! The family recently opened a new tasting room, built to help everyone feel at home while they enjoy their wine. Also serving Sunday brunch, pairing foods and a gorgeous outside seating area that the whole family can enjoy!

Paix Sur Terre -

Art and Wine! This delicious wine comes with its own unique art around each bottle. Each wine will have its unique taste as well as art work you can admire on the bottle, around the tasting room and now for purchase too! Paix Sur Terra is open Friday-Sunday with outside seating on the top of a hill for the perfect views to enjoy your wine. You can bring in your own food to enjoy as well.

Robert Hall -

The most gorgeous location, right off the 46 (the road we take to get into Paso Robles) Fun Fact; me and Scotty actually toured this winery for our wedding venue! We decided to have it locally but it sure was a gorgeous place to have a wedding. They no longer do events here but it still has a gorgeous location, newly decorated and a fun outside vibe to hang! Be sure to check their website to see about events they put on throughout the year as well!

Other Wineries:

Tobin James - Great location being the first or last winery you see when you arrive or leave town, low-key fun and chill vibe, free tastings, and one of my favorite champagnes!

Justin Winery - One of our favorite wines, gorgeous location. A little bit of a drive but beautiful and they also serve lunch!

Eberle Winery - Free cave tours and wine tasting. A gorgeous outside seating area with beautiful view of their vines. This is where we like to take our Vivant cheese picnic to!

Opolo - Another fav! Great fun location and must see!

Daou - One of the most stunning views in all of Paso!

Chronic Cellars - Fun & Chill vibe! They have some delicious wine and a glass comes with your tasting! We drink out of them all the time!

Hotel Accommodations -

After all that food and wine you might want to know where to rest that sleepy and maybe a bit buzzy head! Your in luck, one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at in California is located in Paso Robles. The Allegretto is a gorgeous hotel with so many wonderful amenities. A wine tasting room, delicious restaurant, cabanas by the pool, large fitness center, complementary bikes and the most comfortable beds! I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when coming to Paso, you will love it here!
